1. SU Podium image contest

We invite you to test your skills and submit your Podium rendering in the first SU Podium image
contest. Win some great SketchUp software. Images can be produced on either the full version or

2. Game Developers Conference - see Podium there

Are you in the Bay Area this week? Going to the Game Developer's Conference in San Francisco?
If so, come by and see Podium in the Google booth (#958 Moscone Center) and talk to me (Dave).

3. Podium_Tools.rbs.

Here is a great SketchUp plugin that will delete the Podium reflection and lighting values in
the SketchUp model and let you start over. It provides a way to start the rendering process

4. New Podium evaluation version uploaded

The new SU Podium free evaluation version has been uploaded to http://www.ohyeahcad.com/download/. The
previous version did expire. If you need to continue evaluating Podium, download the new eval.
This one will expire on April 1, 2007.

1. New Exterior Tutorial released

Once again our own Jim Allen has created a detailed tutorial focused on rendering exteriors of
buildings. This tutorial uses Mies van der Rohe's Barcelona Pavilion as the model. Please read
through this very informative web page. It's full of useful tips.

2. New Updated Light fixtures for registered Podium users

Are you a registered Podium user? If so, Login and go to the User page. We have a new, updated
library of light fixtures. The fixtures have omni lights included with light values set, making
them very easy to insert and render. The fixtures are categorized in 4 groups - tables, walls,
floors, street.

3. What's coming - some fantastic stuff

Please expect two big announcements in a week or two.

One will be about the second Podium rendering contest open to anyone (evaluators or customers).
This contest will focus on exterior renderings. The prizes? We are happy to offer,
SpaceExplorer, SpaceTraveler and SpaceNavigator for 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes. These 3D
navigation systems are produced by 3Dconnexion.

Second item to be announced is about the beta release of Podium 1.5. We will be announcing the
availability of Podium 1.5 Beta to registered users in the next week or two. When it is ready,
you will be able to download this new version and test it out for free. More on both these
items soon.

1. SU Podium 2nd Image contest contributors and winners

There are several very creative and stunning images from the 2nd Podium image contest. This
contest focused on exterior renderings but contestants had to come up with a complex SketchUp
model from very simple primitives. Read all about it and view the winners here -

2. New print ready PDF tutorials ready

The Lighting and Exterior Podium tutorials are very useful to understand Podium's artificial
light and global illumination features. However, have you ever wanted a hard copy of these
tutorials? We now have beautifully produced PDF versions of both Lighting and Exterior

3. SU Animate Released

Cadalog has released SU Animate, a very simple animation plug-in for SketchUp Pro 6 Windows (Mac
version coming soon). This simple application works inside SketchUp and automatically creates
scenes that you can play or export to an AVI video file. You can create animations where
SketchUp objects move along a path. You can also create walk thru type animations where the

4. SU Podium 1.5 beta news

We are estimating that SU Podium 1.5 Beta will be released in one or two weeks. The beta
version will be released to registered Podium users only. We expect the final release to
sometime in September. Upgrade will be free!!

1. SU Podium 1.5 Beta released

The Podium 1.5 Beta has been released to existing Podium customers.
Podium 1.5 will have features like an Enhance slider that will light up
a render scene instantly, support for clipmaps and bumpmaps, ability to
render back faces (reverse) and many minor improvements.

The beta is downloadable from the Registered User area of
http://www.suplugins.com. Login and scroll down to the bottom of the User page
to the Download area. Click on the link to the 1.5 Beta download. Also,
please note that the password for the Beta forum is posted on this
page. You will need this to read and write feedback and comments on the
Beta forum.

The beta will only run on a computer that has a full version of Podium
1.4.1.

2. Having trouble registering?

Are you having trouble logging on to the Registered User area even
though you have a serial number? The answer to this is to create a new
account on http://www.suplugins.com. Go to the Registered User area. Click on
Register. Create a new account. With your new password and user name,
you will be able to log on to access the User area. Serial number is
not required at this time.

3. SU Podium 1.5 Beta bump map library.

One of the new features in Podium 1.5 Beta is the support for bump map
textures in the rendering. However, bump maps textures can be tricky to
make. We have created a small library of bump map textures for you to
use freely. The library is located at the bottom of this web page - .

4. German language tutorials ready

German language PDF tutorials are ready for downloading and printing.
These PDF tutorials were originally written by Jim Allen and produced
by Darrly Jonrd. German version translated by Burkhard Bals. Click here

5. Release schedule for Podium 1.5.

Podium 1.5 will be a free upgrade for Podium 1.4.1 customers. If you
purchase Podium now, you can get free access to the 1.5 Beta. We are
planning to release 1.5 as soon as enough users have had a chance to
test it and give us some valuable feed back. Expect a release to come
in early autumn. Keep in mind – the upgrade if free. So there’s no
point in waiting to purchase after 1.5 is released. Get it now and
start producing beautiful images.
